Fabric - The Stories of Our Lives
“...like a bolt of white cloth opening under the cloth-cutter’s deft hands...”
Little did I know such simple words as “white cloth” would become a major creative undertaking. I almost passed them by because of their ordinariness, and yet there was something there, tugging at me.
From those two little words came an obsession to tell the stories of fabric in our lives through the mediums of writing, photography, mixed media art, and films.
The Mediums
-
The Stories
Fond memories often conjure up a place, but almost as important, yet often overlooked, are the fabrics that play a strong supporting role to the story.
-
Mixed Media Art
Colorful scraps on the cutting table, wooden yard sticks given out by long forgotten stores, and tins full of buttons. These are the notions that I build my art around.
